Daniel E. Smith, President eBio, Inc.


Mr. Smith founded eBIO, Inc. in 2009. Mr. Smith also serves as President of Benefit Technology, Inc., a data analytics firm specializing in Life Insurance applications, which he founded in 1985. From 1983 to 1985, Mr. Smith was Director of Advanced Underwriting Micro Products at FDP Corp. From 1980 to 1983, he was a research consultant and head of IT operations at the National Bureau of Economic Research where he directed a large private pension research project. Mr. Smith is coauthor of Pensions in the American Economy (University of Chicago Press, 1983).

From 1978 to 1983, he was research assistant to Lawrence H. Summers, former Secretary of the Treasury during the Clinton Administration, past President of Harvard University and currently Director of the White House’s National Economic Council. From 1978 to 1980, he was research assistant to Kim B. Clark, former Dean of the Harvard Business School and currently President of Brigham Young University – Idaho. Mr. Smith received an A.B. in economics cum laude from Harvard College.

Mr. Smith was recently featured in Nicholas Kristof’s On The Ground column in the New York Times regarding his analysis of Private Foundations’ Exposure to the Madoff Securities fraud.
